Telehealth consults

Access quality care from the comfort of your home

Our general practice clinics can deliver some healthcare services remotely using a secure, government-backed telehealth platform. Telehealth allows you to connect with your GP or practice nurse without visiting the clinic in person. This can be helpful if you need to minimise your exposure to illness or have mobility or transport issues.

Your telehealth appointment will run much like a standard in-person consultation. You’ll speak to your GP or nurse, and they’ll offer advice or treatment just as they would in the clinic. Telehealth is not suitable for all health concerns. We’ll ask you to attend in person if you need a physical examination.

Your privacy is very important to us. Your appointment is not recorded, and we ask that you do not record or screenshot your session. However, if your GP thinks it might be helpful to record images during your telehealth consultation, they will ask for your consent to do so. They may ask you to repeat your consent on camera. You can access our privacy policy here.

More Information

During a telehealth appointment
  • your GP or nurse will confirm your identity and explain the process
  • you can choose to have a support person present
  • you’ll be able to see your GP or nurse and they’ll be able to see you
  • we can arrange a follow-up in-person appointment if needed.
How to prepare for a video call
  • Use Google Chrome as your browser for the best performance.
  • Test your setup in advance: Video Call Pre-Test.
  • Be ready 10 minutes early to log in.
  • Find a quiet, private space and make sure your device is fully charged.
  • Speak clearly, look at the camera, and dress in simple, non-reflective clothing.
  • If you need help during the call, just ask – or check out this troubleshooting guide.

Our GPs/practice nurses reserve the right to terminate your video call, or continue the call without the camera on, if they think this is appropriate. You can also ask to end the consultation, although consultation fees will still apply.

Who is this for?

If you’re a patient at our Brunswick or West Heidelberg GP clinic, we may offer you a telehealth appointment if it is suitable for your needs.

What do I need to do?

You can ask your doctor about telehealth. Or ask our reception staff when you call to make a booking.

If you need an interpreter, please let us know when you book so we can arrange for one to be present during your consultation.

Telehealth consultations need a lot of coordination, so please try to keep your appointment. If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible by calling:

  • 9450 2000 if you are a patient at our West Heidelberg clinic
  • 1300 056 300 if you are a patient at our Brunswick clinic.

Locations

Telehealth consults are available for patients of our Brunswick and West Heidelberg GP clinics. You’ll need to find a quiet, private space at home (or another suitable location) to have the consult.
