Our Occupational Therapists work with you so you can safely and independently carry out the activities of everyday life that are important to you.
These activities may include:
- self-care (e.g. showering and dressing)
- domestic tasks (e.g. cooking and cleaning, laundry),
- social/leisure (e.g. socialising and attending groups).
- community (e.g. accessing shops, hospitals, pharmacy)
This could mean changing the way you do something or where you do it. We work with people of all abilities and ages.
We can also provide Occupational Therapy functional capacity assessments to help support an NDIS application.

If you are under 65 years:
If you are aged 64 or younger, you do not need a referral from a health professional to use this service. You can self-refer by phoning. We prioritise referrals based on how much support a person needs, so some individuals may have to wait longer than others to access our service.

- You will need a referral from My Aged Care. Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. Tell them Holstep Health is your preferred provider.
- Your doctor or health professional can also complete this online form to refer you to My Aged Care.

Please note: If you are eligible for WorkCover, Department of Veteran Affairs or Transport Accident Commission (TAC) claims, you will need locate a private Occupational Therapist.

An Occupational Therapist will meet with you (either in your home or at one of our centres) to complete a holistic assessment. They will gather information about your health conditions and your environments to understand how these affect your ability to complete everyday activities in your home and local community. They will work with you to develop individual goals related to those activities you identify as being important to you.
To help you achieve your goals, the Occupational Therapist may suggest the following interventions or recommendations :
- different strategies for making activities easier for you
- adjustments to your home environment
- trialling and helping you arrange suitable equipment that can make things easier
- resources and strategies for coping with memory or mood changes.
We may also collaborate with other services to help create a safer and more supportive home environment.
Location
In most cases, we will visit you in your home. Our home visiting service is predominately delivered within the Northern-Metro Melbourne region. Speak to our Service Access/Referral and Intake team to find out more.
