What to expect at an appointment

An Occupational Therapist will meet with you (either in your home or at one of our centres) to complete a holistic assessment. They will gather information about your health conditions and your environments to understand how these affect your ability to complete everyday activities in your home and local community. They will work with you to develop individual goals related to those activities you identify as being important to you.

To help you achieve your goals, the Occupational Therapist may suggest the following interventions or recommendations :

  • different strategies for making activities easier for you
  • adjustments to your home environment
  • trialling and helping you arrange suitable equipment that can make things easier
  • resources and strategies for coping with memory or mood changes.

We may also collaborate with other services to help create a safer and more supportive home environment.
