Support for family planning, pregnancy and new parenthood
Whether you’re planning a pregnancy, expecting a baby, or adjusting to life as a new parent, our community midwives are here to support you.
We offer safe, respectful, one-to-one care, tailored to your cultural and individual needs.
You’re not in this alone – we’re here to listen and walk beside you on your parenting journey.
Our community midwifery service can help you with:
- antenatal shared care – visits are shared between your community midwife and maternity hospital
- family planning and pre-pregnancy advice
- pregnancy testing and counselling
- understanding your care options during pregnancy
- childbirth education
- breastfeeding and early parenting support
- support for ante/perinatal depression
- referral to other services as needed.
More Information
Anyone who is pregnant, planning a pregnancy or has recently had a baby. Women who are not considered to have a high-risk pregnancy can use our shared care midwifery service.
We focus on working with women who are:
- experiencing homelessness
- newly arrived refugees
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders
- experiencing drug or alcohol issues
- living with mental health illness, intellectual or physical disabilities
- who may be isolated with little or no support
You do not need a referral to use this service.

Health or welfare professional (e.g. hospital social worker, midwife or GP) can also refer through to our Service Access team on 9450 2000 or email us.
