Working together for education, equity and opportunity

Himilo Community Connect supports the Australian-Somali community in West Heidelberg to achieve better outcomes in education, employment, health and social inclusion.

The program was created through a co-design process with the community. It is built on strong values of belonging, participation, acceptance and fairness. It’s supported by a wide range of partners who share our vision for empowering the Australian-Somali community to thrive.

We work closely with local schools, Victoria Police, government departments and local organisations to deliver programs and events that:

• build stronger relationships between community and services
• support young people to succeed at school and beyond
• create opportunities for employment and training
• promote health, wellbeing and inclusion
• strengthen community pride and participation.
