Activities to suit everyone

Activities to suit everyone

We offer various activities to suit a wide variety of interests. Contact us on (03) 9386 3575 or by email to find out how to join a group – or start a brand-new one.

What's on

Gardening

Take care of vegetables and flowers in raised garden beds at our well-established garden. Connect with other gardeners as you water the plants, maintain the space and do other garden tasks that interest you.

The group meets every Wednesday morning in West Brunswick.

Gender-specific groups

Take the opportunity to socialise with other men or women in gender-specific groups. Activities are chosen by group members, and you can decide on the day which activity you’d like to take part in. For example, at the Tuesday men’s group, some members might spend time together in the garden while others play indoor bocce or sit down for a cup of tea and a chat.

Our women’s groups meet every Monday and Tuesday. Our men’s group meets on Tuesdays.

Language-specific groups

It’s important to us that our social groups for seniors are for all people of all backgrounds. Our staff and group members come from diverse cultural backgrounds and speak a variety of languages, including Turkish, Italian, Greek, Filipino, Hindi, Arabic and Spanish.

We currently offer social groups for Italian-speaking people. These meet on Mondays and Fridays.

There is also a group where people who speak Turkish, Greek, Arabic and/or English can socialise together every Wednesday.

We are open to starting new language-specific groups. Call us on (03) 9386 3575 or email [email protected] to express your interest.

Memory support

To support people with memory loss, our skilled staff use evidence-based methods to encourage social interaction, participation, fun and wellbeing in this weekly group program. This group can also provide respite support for carers.

The group meets every Thursday.

Movers and Shakers

Stay motivated as you complete the exercise program prescribed by your exercise physiologist in the company of new friends who are doing the same.

Joining any of our groups will help keep you or your loved one active. Movers and Shakers focuses on seated movement.

The group meets every Monday in West Brunswick.

Outings

Visit various destinations around Melbourne chosen by group members, including galleries, gardens, shopping centres, restaurants and cafes. Chat and make new friends as you explore.

We have outings on Mondays to Fridays.

Special events

Celebrate special days and join events throughout the year, including:

  • Mother’s and Father’s days
  • cultural days
  • barbecues
  • breakfasts
  • dinners
  • high teas.

"It's been good. We have lots of fun. I've met other women my own age; men and women my own age. And it's connected me back to the community."

"This has been marvellous. This place for me. The whole place. Not just the trips. Because you get to know people, you get to talk to them. You know, you become part of their life to some degree. And I think that's wonderful. Some lifelong friends."
