Carer support for older people

Caring for those who care for others

Caring for a loved one can be both rewarding and demanding. You are a carer if you’re supporting a family member or friend who is frail or aged, has a disability, chronic health condition or mental illness and this person needs support, supervision, and/or assistance with everyday living tasks.

If you’re experiencing difficulties in your caring role, our experienced social workers can provide one-on-one support and help you develop a coordinated care plan. They take the time to listen, understand your situation, and help you deal with the challenges you’re facing.

Our free carer support service includes:

  • a holistic assessment of your own health and wellbeing
  • goal setting to help you focus on what matters most to you
  • emotional support to help you continue in your caring role
  • information, advocacy and referrals to other helpful services as needed.
