Dental care to keep children’s teeth and gums healthy

When children have healthy teeth and gums, it sets them up for a lifetime of good oral health. Our children’s dental care service provides free general and emergency dental care to help your child’s smile stay healthy as they grow.

We offer dental check-ups, basic treatment, and education to support you and your child to build healthy habits. We’ll talk about brushing, healthy eating, and how to look after your teeth at home. Whether it’s your child’s first dental visit or you’ve been coming in regularly, our team aims to make the experience relaxed and positive.

Our children’s dental care service can help you with:

dental check-ups and treatment
education on brushing and oral hygiene
advice on diet and tooth-friendly habits
fillings, cleaning and preventative care
feeling safe and calm at the dentist
emergency dental care
referral to specialist dental services if needed (eligibility criteria applies).

Who is this for?

All children aged 0-12.
All children eligible for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
Young people aged 13-17 years who hold a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card, or are dependents of concession card holders.
All children and young people up to 18 years of age who are in out-of-home care provided by the Children, Youth and Families division of the Department of Human Services.
All refugees and asylum seekers.
Smile Squad inhouse services are also available for all students attending government primary and secondary schools in Victoria.

All eligible children will be given the next available appointment.

We also offer dental care for people over the age of 18. Learn about our adult dental services.

How do I book?

You do not need a referral to use this service. To make an appointment, call us on:

We do not offer walk-in appointments.

If you are a health care worker and would like to refer your client to us, please fax a referral on 9387 5417.

How much will it cost?

Free for children 12 years and under.
Free for eligible children that can access the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
Free via the Smile Squad program for all students attending government primary and secondary schools in Victoria
