Throughout National Carers Week (11-17 October), we recognise and celebrate unpaid carers in Victoria – more than 750,000 people!
Holstep Health along with our Carer Gateway consortium partners, held a range of events to give carers a well-deserved opportunity for fun and connection.
This year, we hosted our third Carer Gateway Family Day at Grazeland with more than 1000 carers joining the fun. We also brought together 220 senior leaders from across the carer industry as part of our annual Carer Forum.
Holstep Health Carer Services team hosted a special Carers Wellness Day and the 14th annual Koorie Carers Lunch, in collaboration with Wandarra, an Aboriginal community organisation based in Broadmeadows.
Bayside Health whisked carers away for a special day at Healesville Sanctuary, complete with a delicious lunch surrounded by nature. Uniting VicTas brought carers together over Care for a Carer morning teas in Knox and Wangaratta, while Grampians Health hosted a relaxing Memory Mingle at Yeramba Farmstay for carers supporting someone with memory impairment. Barwon Health offered something for everyone, from pickleball and Paint & Sip to a dinner for young carers and an elegant High Tea.
FamilyCare brought more than 65 carers together in Shepparton for a lively tea party filled with music, dancing, delicious food and trivia. And Bendigo Health helped carers unwind with a scenic Murray River paddle steamer cruise and lunch, plus a private movie screening.
It was a fantastic week recognising the important contributions of unpaid carers!
