Respite

Giving carers some time to care for themselves

Caring for someone can be both rewarding and challenging, and it’s important to take time for yourself. If you’re caring for an older person at home, our respite care services give you a chance to rest and recharge while we look after your loved one.

We offer flexible respite options Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm, tailored to suit your needs:

  • in-home respite – A care worker will support your loved one in their home or may take them on an outing.
  • centre-based respite – Held at a purpose-built centre, this includes group activities like arts and crafts, gentle exercise, games, gardening, music, and more. Lunch is provided.
  • community access respite – Individual or group-based outings to encourage independence and social connection.

Additional support may include:

  • help getting to medical appointments (depending on location and time)
  • transport to and from the centre (available within a few kilometres)

Please note: During respite hours, we focus on the person receiving care. Domestic duties are not included, but we can connect you with services that may help. Call us on (03) 9495 2500 and we can discuss your needs.
