Dental Health Week: four ways to keep your smile healthy

Dental Health Week is a great reminder that healthy teeth and gums are essential to your overall health and wellbeing. By building a few simple habits into your daily routine, you can help prevent tooth decay and gum disease and keep your smile healthy for life.

Four easy ways to care for your teeth and gums

Good oral health starts with everyday habits. Here are four simple ways to protect your smile:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day using fluoride toothpaste
  • Clean between your teeth every day with floss or interdental brushes to remove plaque from places your toothbrush can’t reach
  • Eat a healthy, balanced diet and limit foods and drinks high in added sugar
  • Visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and preventive care to help identify and treat problems early

Looking after your oral health not only benefits your teeth and gums. It also supports your overall health and confidence.

Supporting healthy smiles from an early age

We’re proud to deliver the Smiles 4 Miles program, an initiative led by Oral Health Victoria that helps improve the oral health of children and families through partnerships with parents, carers and our local preschool community.

Smiles 4 Miles encourages healthy eating, regular toothbrushing and drinking water as part of everyday routines, helping children develop positive oral health habits that can last a lifetime.
