Applying for the Disability Support Pension (DSP) can be complex, especially when it comes to understanding eligibility requirements and gathering the right medical evidence.
DSP Help is a free online resource designed to make the process easier by providing clear information, practical tools and guidance every step of the way.
Developed by Social Security Rights Victoria (SSRV), DSP Help was created using a human-centred design approach to respond to the real experiences and challenges faced by people applying for the DSP. The resource supports people to better understand the application process, prepare strong supporting evidence and navigate appeals if a claim is unsuccessful.
DSP Help may be useful if you are:
- applying for the Disability Support Pension
- supporting someone with a DSP application
- appealing a rejected DSP claim
- gathering medical evidence to support an application or appeal.
The website includes:
- information about DSP eligibility and supporting medical evidence
- a Medical Evidence Bot that generates a personalised evidence kit to help applicants obtain relevant reports and letters from treating health professionals
- guidance on reviewing and appealing rejected applications
- resources for doctors, allied health professionals and support workers preparing medical evidence for DSP applicants.
