We are offering extra support to Hume and Merri-bek families who care for children with multiple and complex disability.
Recognising the burnout and social isolation carers often face, our Children with Complex Disability Needs (CCDSN) program team developed a new carer support group, For You.
For You provides a relaxing and therapeutic environment where carers can connect with others who have similar situations and experiences. Group activities include massage therapy, an art session, and a mindfulness experience with meditation, breathing techniques, and a sound bath.
One new participant wanted to increase her social connectedness, improve her and her children’s emotional wellbeing, and try something new. Through For You, she has been able to integrate breathing and meditation into her family’s bedtime routine and join a weekly meditation class.
