Material aid to help every child reach their potential

The 3081 Angels collect preloved nursery equipment, children’s bedding, clothing, books and toys. We check that they are clean, safe and in very good/excellent condition before giving them to families in need in the north east suburbs of Melbourne. Delivery is free within 30 minutes drive from Heidelberg.

To receive free goods, families usually need a Healthcare card and a referral from a welfare/social worker, community agency, health worker or teacher.  The Angels continue to assist families as their children grow. Clients can contact us directly for further help after the initial referral until children are 12 years old.

Speak to your contact person at one of the following agencies to get a referral:

  • Banyule Maternal and child health centres
  • Mercy Hospital
  • Northern Hospital
  • Child Protection service
  • Olympic Adult Education
  • Temporary accommodation centre or refuge

If you don’t have a connection to one of these services call Suzanne on 0419 866 171 or email [email protected].

We also spread the message about the importance of reading with children and support parents to help their children develop the literacy skills they need for school. Some volunteers work with children in playgroups and at local childcare centres.

3081 Angels are all volunteers. The group has operated since 2012 with the support of Holstep Health and Rosanna Baptist Church, the local community and, of course, thousands of donors!

Volunteer to join us to help local children thrive

The 3081 Angels are a happy, welcoming group of people who are passionate about improving the welfare of local children. You can volunteer with us either onsite (Fridays and Wednesday 9.30am-12.30pm) or from your home.

Our volunteers help us with:

  • donations processing, sorting and packing
  • equipment checking and cleaning
  • presenting donated prams, cots, car seats, highchairs and bassinets to families
  • sorting books and delivering them to places where children can take them home.

Our volunteers need to be willing to:

  • get a Police Check and Working with Children Check
  • attend regularly. We do not have casual/occasional volunteer positions.
  • organise babysitting for toddlers during sessions (we cannot have toddlers onsite due to space limitations and OH&S issues).

We currently need volunteers to help with:

Packing

On alternate Monday mornings, a small group meet to package up clothing and gift bags beautifully, ready to be distributed.

Purchasing

We always aim to distribute preloved goods, but sometimes we need to buy new items such as formula, underwear or the right-sized cot mattress. We also need people to search for free and low costs prams and nursery equipment on eBay, Facebook Marketplace etc. You can do this from home.

Marketing

Do you have marketing skills? You can help us promote our services, goods requests, community and safety information, and receipt of donations/assistance.

Funding

Use your fundraising and relationship-building skills to help us seek support from local granting agencies and businesses.

We have a large range of volunteer positions, but places are subject to availability. If you would like to be considered, please email us to start a conversation.
