Seeing community care in action: Governor of Victoria visits Holstep Health

Today we were delighted to welcome the Governor, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC as well as the City of Merri-bek Mayor, Councillor Nat Abboud and CEO, Kate McCaughey to Holstep Health for a firsthand look at the vital role community health plays in supporting the health and wellbeing of our community.

During the visit, Holstep leaders Tassia Michaleas (CEO), Tass Mousaferiadis (Board Chair) and Heleni Bagiartakis (Executive Director Client Services) spoke about the people we support, the services we provide and the important role community health plays in helping people stay healthy and well. We also shared the health needs of our growing community and how local services make it easier for people to get the care and support they need, close to home.

The group toured our Bell Street site with our Manager of Prevention and Primary Care, visiting the Hospital Admission Risk Program, Children’s Health Services and a range of other allied health services.  They met our team and saw firsthand how our services support people of all ages and at every stage of life.

From helping people stay well and get support early, to providing specialised care and ongoing support, our services are designed around the needs of our community. By making care easier to access, we help people stay healthier, more independent and connected to the people and places that matter most.

Visits like these help community leaders to better understand the difference local community health services make every day. Seeing our services in action and hearing from our staff and consumers helps build support for the services our community relies on today, and into the future.

We thank the Governor, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Mayor, Nat Abboud and CEO, Kate McCaughey for taking the time to visit Holstep Health, meet our team and learn more about the work we do. We appreciate the opportunity to share our story and look forward to continuing to work together to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.
