Last Friday, we celebrated and wrapped up 20 years of Youth Foundation and West Heidelberg Youth (WHY) Grants, in partnership with Bendigo Bank – Community Bank East Ivanhoe.
Over nearly two decades, these two grant programs have funded more than 250 projects. Each one gave children and young people the chance to make a positive change in their own lives and in their communities.
What the grants made possible
Between 2012 and 2026, almost half of the projects were run with Parkville College and The Pavilion School. The grants paid for materials, equipment and activities for hundreds of students.
Projects covered things like:
- Science and technology
- Art, music and culture
- Sport and recreation
- Student-led ideas, such as student businesses, publications, and events showing off students’ work
From 2012 to 2026, WHY Grants and Youth Foundation:
- Delivered 200+ projects
- Engaged 1200+ young people
- Secured 40+ project partnerships
One teacher told us: “When Tyler found out that he made a difference to his community he returned to school and he is now really focused. He also has stronger friendships as his mates are proud of what he did. Without a doubt we put this down to his involvement in Youth Foundation.“
Thank you
Thank you, Community Bank East Ivanhoe (Bendigo Bank), for the incredibly generous and ongoing support! We also acknowledge the foundational support provided by the following organisations over the programs’ history: Victorian Government, Office for Youth, La Trobe University, and Banyule City Council.
Thank you also to everyone who came along to celebrate this program with us.
