We are thrilled to be connecting local schools with community sports clubs to provide more opportunities for girls in school with free or low-cost after school sport.
Through Beyond the Bell, the program creates inclusive sessions designed to build confidence, motivation, and help girls develop skills on the field.
At St Matthew’s Primary School, 19 girls have taken up the chance to try soccer through a partnership with Football Victoria and Pascoe Vale Soccer Club.
St Matthew’s Deputy Principal Matthew Taylor said the program had brought a noticeable shift to school sport in the yard.
“Since the program started, the dynamic has really changed in how our students play. Girls are now using the soccer pitch at lunch, something that was almost exclusively the boys’ space before. They’re more confident in their skills and are joining in the same games.”
Beyond the bell is also being delivered at Glenroy West Primary School in partnership with Coburg Basketball Association and at Fawkner Primary School in partnership with Cricket Victoria.
